E) Past Progressive

The past  progressive tense is going to be used to talk about an action that happens into the past but that at that past it has a continuity with regard to the action itself but that due to something or somebody it was stopped just for a while or definitely. Grammatically we will need to apply the verb TO BE conjured into past tense followed by the main verb into a gerund way depending on the way it is from the three we already know.

Afirmative

Subject  +  was / were + verb in gerund + complemet

Ex.

  • It was raining in the city yesterday.
  • He were having a good time at the party.
  • She was trying to solve her problems.
  • We were watching  movie on tv when the light went off.

Negative

Subject + wasn´t / weren´t + verb in gerund + complement

  • He wasn´t behaving well there.
  • John wasn´t driving drunk on the road.
  • They weren´t getting ready for the exam.
  • You weren´t paying attention to the class.
  • We weren´t saying anything in the meeting.
